BigBoyBorja

A black-and-white drawing of a cartoon character resembling Mickey Mouse in a tattered suit, wearing a tall top hat, with a stern expression, sticking out his tongue, flipping the bird with his right hand, and pointing to his head with his left hand.

Big Boy Borja is an ongoing project questioning value, creativity, and the systems that shape them.

Big Boy Borja is a satirical figure, a critique of the benefactors of classism and elitism seen through the eyes of those left behind. The character draws inspiration from the racial and classist imagery of 19th century American minstrels but turns it on its head to expose the hypocrisy of privilege.

The design borrows the minstrel’s iconic white gloves and exaggerated features, reimagined as a symbol of the modern elite, the so called “3%.” Dressed in a tattered suit, adorned with a medal, and sporting that distinctive bald crown with hair only on the sides, Big Boy Borja embodies the arrogance of wealth. No matter the colors of the clothes or accessories, the piercing black eyes will always remain, bug like, a metaphor for capitalism’s corrupt core where greed and individualism are rewarded while ethics and morality fade away.

At the heart of the project lies a question: What happens when the same tools created to replace human labor are used to generate objects of value, objects untouched by human creativity?

Big Boy Borja was conceived and produced entirely through automated processes, from concept generation in ChatGPT to 3D modeling in Rodin AI, automatic slicing in ChituBox, and printing in a AnyCubic Photon Mono M7 Pro. No designers, no technicians, no outsourced labor, just a pipeline that mirrors the dream of frictionless wealth creation. Except here, there is no profit, no price tag. The work exists as a critique of that very dream.

Made by the same systems that threaten to erase us, this project asks whether art can remain “human” when the act of making is stripped away. Big Boy Borja is not just an object, it is a provocation.

Different Series for each Barrio

A purple figurine of a clown with exaggerated features, wearing a top hat, bow tie, and patched clothes, making a rude gesture with one hand and pointing to its eye with the other, lying on a paper towel with paint stains.

The main idea is to create free art for anyone to have and collect. Due to this, we will create a specific series of 10 Borjas for each barrio. Allowing people to have a greater opportunity to own a BigBoyBorja as their own art piece and collectible.

A Series per Barrio

Once we’ve placed them in the Barrio, we’ll post on Instagram where they all are during the week.

A person dressed in a clown costume with a large head, exaggerated facial features, and a green bow tie, standing on a museum or store aisle, making a shock gesture with both hands, with shelves and lighting above.
